First Mass celebrated at Browns Bay home by Fr M Kennedy of Takapuna. Congregation seven.
1938
New church of St John The Baptist built corner Inverness and Glen Roads, site of the present Village Green.

1949
Browns Bay becomes a separate parish. Fr J C Pierce first Parish Priest.
1961
Focus shifted to Mairangi Bay with opening of St John The Baptist School and St Joseph’s Convent staffed by Sisters Of St Joseph Of Nazareth. Mass offered in various local halls and after 1966 in school hall.
1977
St Francis de Sales Church built at Torbay. Planned during Fr E Gaines’ tenure as Parish Priest. He presided at opening as Auxiliary Bishop of Auckland. Old St John The Baptist church at Browns Bay sold for removal.
1982
St John’s School integrated with state School system. Lay principal Mary McAllister. Sisters of St Joseph gradually retired from teaching but continue working in the parish until 1977.
1994
New Church Of St John The Baptist opened at Mairangi Bay completed the Parish Centre.
